A Trip to Tokyo

In September, I went to Japan with four freshmen in class 405 for a Samba Drum performance.  Months ago when they were still junior high school students, they were members of an aboriginal drum team and were invited by Sunshine City Prince Hotel to perform in a big event, Tokyo Samba Carnival Parade.  That’s why they came to Japan now.  I was lucky to go with them and was impressed by what I saw in Japan.

They didn’t perform on the first day in Japan.  Instead, they took me to visit Meiji Jingu (めいじじんぐう明治神宮).  It is a beautiful shrine.  We used the dipper to rinse our hands and mouth.  We also clapped twice before we made a wish.  It was a new experience for them.  We also made delicious Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き大阪燒) ourselves for lunch.  It was tasty.

The next day, we went to Tokyo Skytree (スカイツリ晴空塔) in the morning.  It is a tall tower.  From the Observatories, people can have a wonderful view of Tokyo streets.  In the afternoon, we began our Samba Drum

performance.  The four students performed with their team members near Sunshine City Prince Hotel.  They performed for three times, 30 minutes for each time.  Many other groups also performed Samba dances. It was a lively event.

On the third day, the four students took me to join the
Samba Carnival Parade around the Sunshine City Prince Hotel.  The video of their Samba drum performance can be seen if you visit the following website: https://youtu.be/NS7VH0u988k.  They enjoyed much in this activity.  After that, the four students and I visited the
aquarium that belonged to the Sunshine City Prince Hotel. I was shocked that I could see animals like penguins and seals in a hotel.  In Taiwan, I can only see them in the zoo.

Besides these activities, I also had a happy day in Disneyland.
The roller coasters there are cool.  Before I left Japan, I had some cultural exchange with the students in two Japanese high schools nearby.  We danced, talked to the Japanese students, and also showed them our Samba Drum performance.  We had a good time.  Those Japanese students there were very well-mannered.

To me, it was a productive and unforgettable trip.  I learned a lot and also enjoyed a lot.

Carp Week 1

Carp Week 1

June 17 (By Han-lin & Pei-ying, Group 1)
Today is June 17th, and I woke up at four o'clock in the morning.  When l look out the window and saw a wonderful sunrise, I felt very satisfied and was full of happiness.  After that, Han-lin and Pei-ying took me to the beach, and we ate delicious breakfast in Jinshan.  At the beach, I saw plenty of fish, crabs and seaweed which was washed up on the shore.  And then, Han-lin and Pei-ying took me to Tamsui Old Streets to eat our dinner, “Ah Gei.”  It's a deep fried tofu.  It is stuffed with crystal noodles and sealed with surimi.  The texture of the tofu is soft inside.  The crystal noodles inside are very smooth, tender and tasty.  We ate “ah gei” with some savory, spicy sauce.  The sauce tasted sweet.  If you come here, “ah gei” is a must-try in Tamsui!  Today is a wonderful day!  I think I will never forget these wonderful memories.

Carp just woke up in the morning.

Carp Week 1

June 19 (By Joan Huang, Group 1)

Today is June 19th.  It's an extended holiday thanks to the Dragon Boat Festival. The weather was so hot.  So I went to a store selling shaved ice with Mei-Yi, Shu-Yue, Shu-Yue's sister, and a friend.  We ordered the milk-flavored and the chocolate-flavored shaved ice.  The shaved ice tasted yummy and kept us from summer heat.  After that, we visited the famous old street in Jinshan.  The old street was filled with hundreds of tourists.  So, I was afraid that I might be separated from my friends.  The Jinshan old street is famous for delicious duck meat in a restaurant.  Many tourists come to Jinshan for the well-known duck meat.  In the late evening, we went to McDonald's and took a break there.  What a beautiful day it is!

P.S. Photos of Carp will be uploaded later...

Day 2 with Vicky

Today, I went to Miaoli with Vicky. And we went home by train. Vicky was reading Chinese while I was sleeping. And after getting off the train, we played badminton together. Vicky practiced badminton for the competition this Saturday. Hope she can get championship! And then we had a great dinner, which was cooked by Vicky’s father. It is a special food -- curry. I was really excited about this superb food. We ate, and then we studied. I accompanied Vicky when she was writing Studio Notes. She listened to the program attentively and I fell asleep. Today I got many experiences and entertainments. It was an impressive night. Hope I can go to Vicky’s Home next time~’
